Our Story

Built by a Pharmacist Who Wanted Drug Names to Stick

DrugSpot started with a simple frustration — and a hunch that studying drug names could feel like play instead of a slog.

The idea for DrugSpot came from Ashley Anderson, a clinical pharmacist with more than 20 years of experience — in her own words:

After decades of noticing the struggle to memorize generic drugs and brand names among my friends and coworkers who were studying to become pharmacy technicians, I thought there must be a way to make this easier. I began with writing songs about the Top 200 drugs, creating lyrics to learn drug classes or suggesting acronyms. But none of it stuck.

I began exploring gamified learning. Personally, I've always found brain teasers and written puzzles to be fun for all ages. When my long-time friend Andrew reached out to ask if I might have any educational app ideas, I told him what had been brewing in my mind and he made that app idea come to life!

That hunch became the core of DrugSpot: word search puzzles, spaced repetition flashcards, and multiplayer challenges that turn hundreds of drug names into something you actually want to study.

Drug content reviewed for educational accuracy by Ashley Anderson, R.Ph., MBA. Drug data is sourced from the U.S. FDA and NIH, then reviewed by a licensed clinical pharmacist with 20+ years of experience who curates it down to what students actually need to know for their exams.
